Planning a hens party is all about creating lasting memories and celebrating the bride-to-be in style. But sometimes, despite our best intentions, things don’t go according to plan. From unexpected mishaps to hilarious blunders, hens party disasters can often lead to the most unforgettable and laughter-filled moments. In this blog post, we’ll share some entertaining stories of hens party disasters that remind us to embrace the unexpected and find joy in the chaos.
- Tipsy Tantrums from a Hen-zilla
We all love a good drink at a Hens Party, but sometimes it gets a bit out of hand and one or two guests over indulge. Often this can mean fun and games with some wild behaviour and fun memories, but not everyone is a happy-go-lucky drunk… some can get mean. This is bad enough when it’s just one guest, but when the guest-of-honour herself starts having Tipsy Tantrums, then nobody is going to have any fun. - High Expectations
This is another unfortunate Hen-zilla moment, where the Bride-to-be has understandably been dreaming about her Hens Party for years in many cases, but often she can feel like the day itself just doesn’t live up to her expectations. Now if this was the wedding, she’d have no-one to blame but herself and her groom, but since Hens Parties are traditionally organised by a Maid-of-Honour, often it can be the Hens besties who can end up in the firing line. This can lead to some tense situations and certainly ruins the mood of the day. - Mixed Gender parties
This one can be a bone of contention when we raise it with our clients, but trust us: we’ve never ever seen a good mixed gender bachelor/bachelorette party in all of our years in the industry. It ruins the vibe every single time. Especially if you want to indulge in getting the traditional stripper at your party – almost always there ends up being at least one guest who feels threatened by the performer in some way, and the vibe goes right down. Male guests often end up in testosterone fuelled cock-offs with the male strippers and female guests can often get catty and disrespectful to the female performers – it’s a terrible environment for your performer to be able to give their all in, meaning you’re often not getting the best entertainment that you otherwise could’ve.
Hens party disasters cause stress and frustration, and they often become the stories of regret that are shared long after the celebration. Every time we speak with our clients we do our best to make recommendations based on our more than decade long experience in the industry. Sometimes they take our advice and sometimes they don’t, and all we can say is that when they don’t we almost always have them come back and say “I wish I listened to you”.
